Permits are required for conducting certain types of work, activities and installations within the City Limits. To obtain a permit or to complete permit applications, visit City Hall at 400 N. JJ Lemmon Hutchins, TX 75141.

Plan Reviews:
All submitted plans are required to have a Professional Engineering stamp and contact information. All fire suppression and fire alarm plans must be reviewed by a third-party fire engineering firm, stamped and approved prior to final review by the City. Once the third-party review is completed, 2 hard copies 24”x36” along with the third-party review is to be submitted to the City’s fire Inspection Office for final review prior to permitting.
All submitted plans will be picked up at City Hall. The approved plans will be wet stamped and marked as the “SITE PLAN”. The Site Plan will be recognized as the official plan and will be referenced during inspections. The stamped Site Plans MUST remain on the work location at all times.
Plan review for high pile storage racking and Access Control are to be submitted directly to the Fire Inspection Office, located at 1525 E Wintergreen Hutchins, TX 75141,

Under normal workload conditions the Fire Inspection Office has a 14-business day duration for plan reviews.

Inspections:
Inspection request must be made 2days in advance of the desired inspection. The requested inspection will be scheduled in the earliest available date and time.
Fire Inspection violations have 10 business days for correction and reinspection. Life threating violations will be required to be corrected immediately.
Fire Lane Requirements:
All fire lanes are required to be a minimum 26’ wide and 7” thick concrete with an inside turn radius of 35’r and an outside turn radius of 54’r. Fire lane painting and labeling must meet IFC2021requirements.
All new construction buildings/structures are required to have two emergency access entrances with emergency access road/fire lane 360 around the intended structure prior to going vertically with the building. The emergency access road/Fire Lane is required to be within 150’ of the building and within 50’ of exterior doors that allows direct access to the interior of the building.
Where the vertical distance between the grade plane and the highest roof surface exceeds 30 feet an arial fire apparatus access roads shall be provided. The highest roof surface shall be determined by measurement to the eave or a pitched roof, the intersection of the roof to the exterior wall, or the top of the parapet walls, whichever is greater. All parking lots and emergency lanes are required to be concrete. All emergency access roads/Fire Lanes will maintain a 26’ width without exclusive of shoulders, in the immediate vicinity of the building or portions thereof. One or more of the required access roads meeting these conditions shall be located not less 15’ and/or greater than 30’ from the building and shall be positioned parallel to one entire side of the building. The side of the building on which the ariel fire apparatus access road is positioned and approved.
